Energy scam calls pick up every time gas and electricity prices change. Someone rings claiming to be from British Gas, Octopus, EDF, or whichever supplier you use. They say your tariff is ending, your smart meter is faulty, or you're owed a government rebate. The caller wants your bank details, your personal data, or a way into your home.

Your energy supplier will never ring you out of the blue and ask for bank card details over the phone. Government energy support payments are applied automatically through your supplier. You do not need to click a link or fill in a form to receive them. If you get one of these calls, hang up and ring your supplier using the number on your bill.
