AI Summary
Based on 4 community reports
Calls from this Basingstoke number feature callers claiming to be from the NHS offering free safety alarms, watches, or blood pressure monitors to people supposedly on a "priority list". Reports consistently describe callers with Indian accents who have some personal details but lack complete information that genuine NHS staff would possess.
The scammers use social engineering tactics, claiming victims are entitled to free equipment before requesting personal information like dates of birth, postcodes, and crucially, banking details including sort codes. One caller couldn't provide the correct house number when challenged, revealing they don't have legitimate access to NHS records.
This appears to be a medical equipment scam where fraudsters impersonate NHS services to harvest personal and financial information. The NHS does not cold-call people offering free equipment or request banking details over the phone. If you receive such calls, hang up immediately and report them to Action Fraud. Contact your GP practice directly if you have genuine concerns about NHS services.

A lady with an Indian accent called, saying she was from the NHS. She told me I was on a priority list, so I could get a free alarm watch or pendant. She wanted to check my date of birth and postcode, and said they would send paperwork to sign. There was a small service charge, then she asked for my bank name and sort code, so I hung up.
Indian lady (poor english) rang my mother twice. She said that she was calling from the NHS and that my mother could get a commmunity alarm/blood pressure machine. She said that she needed my mother's address to send paperwork and the machine. I gave her a postcode and she asked me to check the house number. I told her if she was from the NHS then she should already know the house number. She told me the wrong number and started to stutter, so I put the phone down. Very suspicious!
Slight Indian voice before hanging up
