Scam! Don't answer calls texts or emails you don't know. Do not talk to any scammers. Do not ring back unknown numbers. Tell the police/Ofcom about all scam attempts using the official systems they have set up. Send texts phone call numbers and information (including silent calls) to 7726. Repeat if they ask you to. Also tell them using the phone's spam reporting. Send texts to 7726 AND also report it on the text spam reporting. Look to see if they reply as you might need to say yes to confirm. Send scam emails to '[email protected]' AND also report it using the email phishing reporting system. All reports should be checked, but if you report it on all the different systems, that will make sure that all the right agencies know about the scam and action is then taken. Google 7726 & '[email protected]' to read more.

They called, said they were the Housing Repair Team, working for the local council and housing association. Spoke with a thick Asian accent. They asked about any problems, like mould, damp and cracks. There was a delay when I spoke before they answered. I thought it was a scam, but he just repeated that he worked for the council etc. I asked who my Housing Association was, and he put the phone down.

Caller said they were from the Housing Repair Team. I told them I had an issue with spam. After a noticeable pause, the caller asked if I was having a problem with damp and mould. I said no, just spam coming through the walls. There was another pause, then he said it seemed he had the wrong number. Looks like I’ll have to scrape the spam off the walls by myself . . . .

Housing disrepair scam! Look it up! The web is full of warnings. Do not speak to scammers. The call might be recorded and AI used to copy your voice. Google 'voice cloning scams'. REPORT ALL SCAM ATTEMPTS. Info posted below. Sadly, there are people who get caught by these scams. It's why scammers do it.To help protect people AND help cut down the massive amount of scam calls texts and emails that come to the UK every day, all should be reported to the systems made to handle them. Right now, so few get reported that government numbers don't seem to show this is a big problem. That's just what scammers want! And blocking does nothing to stop scams. Blocks only stop that one number from calling YOUR phone. You WILL get called again from a different number
